Hi Allison and Graham, Terry Rowe here, just to say many thanks for your hospitality over my recent very short, far too short, stayon your magnificent site. Also just to let you know, I have an automatic infra red camera set up at the back of my campervan whilst with you, it was out for 4 days and nights. I expected all sorts, including a myriad of Rats but when I have downloaded the shots taken we found only squirrels, hedgehogs, cats and birds, no foxes prowling at night and no rats, so that should please you. Hope to be able to visit again very soon.Have a nice Day

Hi Graham & Alison We have just come back from what we can only describe as a brilliant, relaxing week at Conifer Lake. The site was beautiful and the lake was something else. It was a pleasure to walk round it. The shower facilities were immaculate and clean and you made us feel really welcome and the caravan pitches had plenty of room. Gary i.e. me had a brilliant weeks fishing. We can only say that we will be definitely be back very very soon. Gary & Jane Campbell (folding camper)

Hi,We have just returned home for a 2 night stay at your beautiful site, this was our first camping trip and we wanted somewhere small and quiet for our first trip, have to praise you both on the location and quality of your site, the camp area was spotless and set in beautiful surroundings, the showers and toilets were excellent, and also the pot wash area was a blessing to have the use of.The lake is very beautiful to stroll around and with access via the back gate to the local pub a treat.I’m sure we will back again very soon, but just wanted to give some feedback on the hospitality and quality of your site.Kind regards Phil & Michelle Sagar.

OK I'm not going to do the usual great Wardens clean loos thing I just want you to know that we have just returned from a really fantastic four days on this lovely site. I arrived feeling like my neck had disappeared and my shoulders were up around my ears. Tired and stressed don't begin to describe how I was feeling. Yes I know we have been exceptionally lucky with the weather but I can honestly say this site is a little haven, we literally felt all the tension melt away. Read all the other reviews for the details. And as for the Wardens(well owners actually), they were friendly but unobstrusive and as someone who is very picky about the loo situation - they were immaculate, sorry it had to be said! Thanks Graham and Alison we'll be back soon. Jane and Frank

Sorry, another 'how wonderful is this place?' review, throughout our 20+ years of camping/motorhome touring this has to the the best ever site we have visited (both in the UK and abroad) No being pushed around, no waiting for a lukewarm slot machine showers. The surroundings are just idyllic the owners are the most friendly and helpful you could wish to find. Hubby loves the fishing (owners even happy to advise/help of needed) Fabulous wildlife encouraged and cared for by owners. Toilets and showers equal and better than many top London hotels Wish I could buy shares in this site, you will have to hurry and get booked, this place is going to be 100% full really soon as everyone you meet there never just visits once, everyone returns here. Negative points- hmmm it was cold in January but I'm sure the owners would make that right if they could. Not even sure I should submit this review in case we can't get on next time we visit !
Unit: caravan
Oh what a piece of heaven couldn't fault the place it is so peaceful with lovely lake views and great fishing.

The site has excellent facilities the toilets are spotless the showers have free hot running water heating is just been added to the toilet block for the following winter months.

There's ample of hot water for dish washing with the added touch of free washing up liquid.

We couldn't believe the hospitality of the owners who take customer care and satisfaction to the next level they now have many return guests so I suggest booking early as this is a small secluded site which is becoming very popular.

The site is open 12 months so we look forward to using it over the winter months and the cozy cabins on site are fab for maybe you tent users over the winter period when you want something a bit more warm and snug.

We cant wait to return to this site there's something very special about the place you wont want to leave once you get there we certainly didn't.

Just got back from Conifer lakes, all I can say it was brilliant! Showers and toilet facilities were very clean. Fishing was great even though I did not take part.

I would recommend to anyone to visit this site, owners are extremely friendly they cannot do enough for you to make your stay enjoyable. Fantastic 2 nights will be going back.

Local pub only minutes away, great food. After speaking to other campers they go back again and again! Perfect site.

You do not have to be off site early the day you go home, which does not happen a lot on most sites, they like you off at 10. 00am or before midday.
Unit: camper van
A very pretty site situated around an old estate lake which has good fishing and interesting walks. Graham and Sandra, the owners, are very friendly.

The site facilities are good but limited with only 3 shower cubicles. OK for us as there were only 4 touring units on site but if full this would be a problem. The chemical disposal was good but there was not a suitable point for draining waste water from a campervan tank.

The fishing was good but very frustrating due to the vast amount of lilies. 15 mins walk away the Plough pub served a good Sunday lunch at reasonable price.

Would I go back ? Unlikely due to the price, £22 inc electricity at the end of September, as you can get better facilities at lower prices.
Unit: caravan
Graham & Allison are two of the friendliest people I have ever met and insist on greeting everyone on arrival, Graham will even park your caravan for you (if like me you are a bit bad at reversing)

The site is amazing, it is kept immaculate and is so quiet you can hear a pin drop.

The toilets and showers are kept very clean and require a pin number to enter which Graham will give you on arrival. They are very spacious and resemble a Swedish sauna with all the wood, they are attended to on a regular basis.

Having used the site on several occasions I can honestly say I would have to go a long way to find one as friendly and peaceful as this

One as a fisherman myself this is heaven, the lake is so easy to get around with loads of pegs, the only thing you have to decide on is where is best to fish and that's easy, anywhere!

It has approx 4ft of water and 3 and a half foot of fish, don't be fooled though, the fish here are not stupid. Graham has a bait shop selling pellets and maggots (ask if he has any when you book), landing nets are supplied by the site and keep nets are supplied if you are lucky enough to go when there is a match on, which is a site match, however if you decide you don't want to fish the match, that's not a problem there are always loads of spare pegs open to pleasure anglers.

If you fancy a night out and don't want to drive the local pub is only ten minutes walk away, if you ask Graham or Allison for a key to the gate it costs £5 which is returned when you hand it back, well worth it if you want to leave the car on site.

The local area is full of things to do, it is not far from the local gliding club at pocklington and not far from the city of york and also if you are a golfer then conifer lake is ideal, another 40ft and you will have your caravan on one of the greens as it is very close to allerthorpe golf club.

Electric hookups are easy, simply ask for as much electric as you want, you will be given a card that you insert into your hookup. For a two night stay I have never gone over £2, amazing value

In fact I have always found the whole site value for money, try it yourself, but my advice is book early as getting a pitch can be difficult due to the amount of people that come back time and time again
Unit: Cozy Cabin
Dear Graham, Allison and staff,

Just returned home today and wanted to thank you for having such a wonderful location for people to stay. My sister and I usually go camping but decided to rent your Kingfisher cozy cabin instead. The cabin had everything we needed to enjoy a perfect stay. It was very clean, cosy and ideally situated with the lake behind it. The setting is absolutely beautiful, you all made us feel very welcome and we will definitely highly recommend you to all our friends and family.
Thanks again and hopefully see you soon,
Sandra, Denise and Bobby (The dog). x

Dear Graham and Allison,

I would just like to say a very big 'THANK YOU' for making us feel so welcome at what can only be described as your little piece of paradise. Conifer Lake is absolutely wonderful, tranquil and picturesque. We had a fantastic time and will most certainly become regulars.

The greeting received as we arrived was lovely and your welcoming nature made us feel like we had been visiting you for years. Your facilities are so clean and well maintained and nothing seemed to be too much trouble. We thoroughly enjoyed mooching around the lake and standing by the illuminated pond on an evening, 2 nights was not enough... in fact I think we could have stayed indefinitely.

Not that we want to share Conifer Lake with too many others, but we have to praise the facilities. The roads in and around the site are comfortable and framed by magnificent grounds. The tall trees, pretty flowers and quirky decoration around the site make returning to nature a delight and for anyone who isn't that camping is for them, then you won't be disappointed. The toilets and showers were as nice, if not nicer, than some hotels and B and Bs. The sizes of pitches is very roomy... the tent was up, dogs tethered and still room for four adults to sprawl out, without encroaching onto the next tents patch. It is a perfect get-a-way and retreat for anyone wanting to escape the modern world. The big plus for us, taking just a 2 night break, was that from Hull it takes at most 35 minutes.

We will see you next year, if not before... depending on working weekends.

Thank you once again

Jenni, Steve, Rob, Denise (and Blu and Skye)

Just returned from a two night stay at Conifer Lake. This site has just gone to the top of our favourites list!

Graham and Allison are amazing people and make you feel at home the minute you arrive. The facilities are spotlessly clean. The site is the most relaxing we have visited.

The lake is beautiful and although we don't fish it is obviously very popular with fishermen. There are some lovely log cabins to hire if you fancy a weekend without putting the tent up!

There is nothing negative to say about the site and we hope to return many times in the future.

My dearest Graham and Allison,
I really hope this email finds you both well and in the best of spirits! What can I possibly say about my stay at your glorious hideaway, in fact I had intended to write a really bad review so that perhaps some campers would be scared away and it might stay a delightful secret for a while longer, fat chance! Ha ha. The whole place is a thing of beauty and testament to your extreme hard work and obvious love of nature, I described it to my friends as camping at Monet’s garden and being allowed to fish as well… only even more picturesque! I think one of the many blessings is the way you have managed to so successfully blend a real feeling of getting back to basics but with the addition of all the comforts a camper could wish for in such a natural setting. I remember bringing Frankie (student daughter) over for the afternoon and before we got there she said “I cant be too long incase I need the loo and there’s no way I’m using a stinky campsite toilet!”. Needless to say she loved the place too, did need the loo and came out remarking it was plusher than most hotels! It has definitely unsettled me (in a nice mid life crisis kind of way) and friends and colleagues tease that I’ve gone feral, always looking for a spare field or wood to stick up a cosy cabin!! Anyhow, no matter how beautiful or immaculately serviced Conifer Lake is as a little piece of heaven, it would be nothing if the hosts were a grumpy old pain in the bum. This is where you guys excel, you’re both smashing people whose personalities match the environment perfectly, from the first friendly greeting to the last sad wave goodbye nothing is ever too much trouble to make sure everyone has what they need for a memorable holiday, it feels like camping in your friends garden.I’ve read all the magazines you so kindly gave me to take away and have learned a little more about the fine arts of fishing but can still only be described as an enthusiastic beginner. However, with your friendly “nagging” still ringing in my ears, Allison, “fish lower and keep it on the bottom”, I did manage to hook a couple of weighty carp the other day. No photos so you’ll have to take my word for it! …………………..Or is it just another fisherman’s tale? Thank you so much for such a fantastic time, missing Conifer Lake (and both of you a bit!) and hope to be back soon.
Unit: Touring Caravan

This is possibly one of the best campsites we have been to. This site was recommended to us by a friend, they go for the fishing. We don’t fish so I wasn’t sure what to expect.

From the off Graham and Alison were so welcoming and helpful. They came to say hi to everyone on the site each morning.

The pitches are a very good size and they certainly have the best facilities I’ve ever seen. The toilet / shower block is spotless and very plush. I can imagine they will have to build another toilet block soon as this place is certainly going to become a hot spot.

The electricity is run on a card basis, which you can buy in £1's or £5's. For a weekend running: TV, Freeview, waterheater, fridge etc. We only used about £3.

An early morning walk around the fishing lake showed me why this place so popular; it is beautiful and peaceful. There is also a separate walk around the campsite for the doggies.

The village pub is 10 minutes walk away. To the other side of the campsite is golf course.

We stayed later than official check out time as it was such a glorious day but when it was time to pack up and leave Graham cycled up the one-way lane so we didn’t encounter any oncoming traffic.

The only fault was the sign to the campsite, we managed to miss it but a quick call to Graham and we were directed in. I suppose if he does replace the sign the site will be so busy we won’t be able to get in!

Just got back today from conifer lake and after reading all the great reviews I have to agree, its an absolute peach of a site.

Its a family run site and my wife and I found all the staff were very friendly and helpful with a great sense of humour.

Facilities were faultless, we paid £2 for electric on card and didn't use it all in two nights, some sites we've visited have charged as much as £4 a night. Its not a big site so all fresh water and waste disposal is close at hand. We pitched on grass and had plenty space and even though we had quite a lot of rain the site didn't get muddy. The site is also nice and level. Toilets and showers were great, clean and spacious.

Location was great. Pretty easy to miss sign at entrance but directions on this website are spot on. Its a very pretty site with a lovely lake, nice wildlife. There's also a good golf course very close by.

There's 5 tourers on site on seasonal pitches, 4 cabins and about 15 pitches for tents, caravans and motorhomes. We had live entertainment on saturday night in the form of martin, who plays guitar and sings very well.

Loved the site and owners are great. Will be back in autumn and winter as site is open all year.

Conifer Lake provided me and my partner, the perfect site at which to de-stress from what had been a very hard week at work. As we exited the lane onto the site itself, we discovered a beautiful piece of paradise. The facilities are clean, the site is extremely well tended, the woodland area with the lake and water-lilies was such a unexpected haven of tranquillity. Graham and Allison are a warm and welcoming couple who should be proud of what they have achieved. The site caters for caravans and tents. The owners have, and are still in the process of erecting wooden lodges where you can 'glamp' in comfort. Wildlife is in abundance and we were privileged to spot kingfishers on the lake - a first for us.

Would highly recommend this site and we (plus our well behaved dog!) will definitely be returning.
Unit: Tent

A jewel in the countryside. NO traffic noise at all! Quiet with no kids.

Easy enough to find. Not expensive. Electric hook up is available.

Facilities are good and although there is only 1 shower for men and one for women, the site is small and we found that you didn't have to wait. They are of a high modern standard, and always clean.

The owners are experienced campers and caravanners so have set up this site with their knowledge reflecting that. Everything is just right. They are extremely helpful and nothing was too much trouble.

The cabins looked fine for visitors without a tent or caravan.

If you want to use freezer packs, they put them in their own freezer, as there is not one for general use.

When you move around at night the lights come on with movement sensors so they are not on all the time.

The ground was good for pegs with only the odd stone.

There is a nice pub about 10 minutes walk in Allerthorpe. 'The Plough' The food was a little on the expensive side. We didn't eat there but some did and said the food was excellent. You will need a torch for the walk back.

Pocklington is nearby and has all the shops you need. It has many independent shops that make it an interesting place to visit.

Many places of interest nearby, with York quite close. The coast is not far either.

The lakes on site are outstandingly beautiful. Kingfishers had a family and they were entertaining. Fishing is good, with a very mixed fish population. Packeted baits are available on site (pellets - paste etc. But not maggots)

We loved this place so much we are going again this weekend for 3 days and again in August. You do need to check availability before going to Conifer Lakes.
Unit: Tent

Back home from a week camping here. Arrived at the site, the owner Alison greeted us and told us where to pitch up and gave us the code for the toilet/shower block{so the fishermen don't use them as they have their own}.The site was lovely. The lake was behind us which is a lovely walk round. Also spotting the ornaments in the lake that showed the owners personality made you laugh. The toilet and shower are in 1 unit but has 3 units altogether are very clean and unlimited hot water, also the pot wash area is also clean with the added touch of washing up liquid is very helpful. The owners Graham and Alison couldn't help us enough, They even let me in 1 of their pods so that I could straighten my hair as the only thing that is missing is a plug socket in the bathrooms which is due to health and safety. They have plans to build more shower/toilet blocks and pods which are tastefully done in wood. The area round the site is good near pocklington although you couldn't walk there, York for a busy day out, the site is also close to Beverly where we went to the race meeting for a great evening out. Bridlington, filey and Scarborough are close too. In the village of allerthorpe there is a pub which for a £5 deposit you can get the key from Alison and Graham for the short cut to the pub otherwise it would take you forever to get there. We would come back to this site, a lovely site with friendly owners that actually don't mind stopping to talk. Great get away for a great price!

We have just spent 2 nights at the conifers and wish it could have been longer. The site is in a beautiful location and is very peaceful. My husband saw the lake and thought he had died and gone to heaven. The toilet/showers are really clean and well lit when you use them at night. I sat reading outside the tent while my husband fished and the only sound was the birds singing. There is a pub nearby where you can get a meal and shops are a short car ride away. We had a very enjoyable time made better by the owners who are very friendly and stop for a chat. The only fault was we drove past the site on a couple of occasions as we did not spot the small sign, otherwise perfect. We will be going back again in the future
Unit: Tent

Wow what a gem, lovely friendly site, very clean, toilets were immaculate and very upmarket. Dish washing facilities even provided own washing up liquid etc. Very quiet with a lake to die for, short walk to local pub but didn't bother as site too nice to leave. Lone female camper and felt very safe and welcome but able to chill out alone when I wanted. Owner was really helpful with no pressure to leave early the next morning. Pitches very large and clearly marked. Already booked again will be taking my fishing rod.

Having arrived home from Afghanistan my wife informed me we were going back to Pocklington as she had found a site i might enjoy. We arrived at Coniferlake and WOW what a find as it says on the tin A SMALL PIECE OF HEAVEN IN EAST YORKSHIRE. The owners Graham and Allison could not have been more helpful even the Dog was made welcome what started out as a three day trip ended up as a week with us reluctant to leave. The site was excellent in every respect nice touches with washing up liquid at the pot wash and white handtowels in the spotless toilets, even the fishermans toilet had a hand towel. The fishing was excellent they were not all that got hooked, we will be back. Fantastic just about does this campsite justice. Well worth a visit you wont be disappointed. Nick and Margaret Edinburgh

Found conifer lakes site on and decided to give them a try, excellent decision. Arrived mid afternoon to be welcomed like old friends by owners Allison and Graham who could not have been more helpful.

We sorted ourselves out, got the satellite system operating, that keeps her in doors happy while I'm drowning worms. Graham and Alison came back a little later and gave us a tour of the site, five star hotel quality shower and toilets his and hers plus disabled.

Then a walk round the lake with Graham suggesting good spots to try. There is abundant wild life to see, and lots of peace and quiet, this great couple deserve congratulations on developing a magic site and we wish them every success with their dream of creating the perfect holiday fishing camping site.

A friend of ours found this site by chance and what a find!

Peaceful, relaxing and friendly are a few of the qualities, the lake is stunning, apparently the fishing is good too so my husband informed me (I don't fish),

Allison and Graham (the owners) make you feel like part of the family and will happily help with any problems that may arise!

Toilet blocks are spotlessly clean, constant hot water, proper showers.

In fact we love this site so much we have taken one of the yearly pitches, who needs to go abroad when you have campsite/caravan sites like this at home

Thank you so much for a truly relaxing weekend,. This is not the first time we've stayed with you and we certainly
saw a big difference in the place due to your hard work over the last year. This place is a wonderful find for us and we will certainly
be there whenever we can. Facilities are spot on, hospitality 100%, and it is such a nice place to stay.
Really looking forward to our next visit.

Regards Brin and Janine.
Unit: Touring Caravan

Staff were the friendliest and most welcoming of people, and made our stay very enjoyable.

Getting there was a bit of a problem due to us obeying TomTom sat nav, which took us up a back lane, then rough track through private land which got narrower and rougher, through some farmyard behind the campsite. We got through in the end but was a bit worrying for a moment, and later discovered was totally the wrong way to come in, so watch out for that!

The site is very pretty, secluded and peaceful, and while the tall trees in the back field offered protection from wind, they caused bad TV signal, meaning we had to use analogue instead of digital freeview which constantly broke up. Luckily BBC1 was good enough for William & Kate's wedding on the day.

In the back field (cant confirm for front field) electric hookup is 16A by £1 or £5 cards, and each point has drinkwater tap, and waste water drain (if you have long enough hoses/piping).

The back field was very dark at night, perfect for stargazing. I took some big binoculars and enjoyed a couple of lovely clear nights. But Graham is changing the back field to hold static caravans, so this will not be an option for tourers at some time soon.

The site is very newly created, clean, well-kept, has a nice small koi pond feature in the middle of the front field which has just been built, and of course the big lake behind with islands and bridges, and plenty of paths and stepped areas on the banks for fishermen. There are strict rules for keepnets, hook types, etc.

Early mornings can be a bit noisy due to the many geese which fly in, and at this time of year there are little goslings and baby ducks swimming about. The lake is beautiful to walk around, packed with water lilies (just coming through), daffadils, wild flowers and many types of trees, which are very well thought out and maintained by Graham and Alison.

Graham has created a gate at one end of the lake providing easy and quicker access to The Plough pub in Allerthorpe village (ask him for a key to get back in).

The facilities are kept very clean. We never had a problem with toilets being all in use. There are only 3 (plus 1 fishermans loo round the back, which although a bit dark, also has small wash basin, towel, etc). Each toilet/shower unit is brand new, constant very hot water, proper hand towels, fantastic wood panelled dry area (like a sauna) so your clothes don't get wet. Facing east on sunny days these get quite nice and warm.

Being a small site there is no on-site shop. Pocklington is closest for shopping, local market, etc.

The April weather was very kind to us with some days like summer (we got sunburnt!), so we didn't venture out very much, but when we did we enjoyed Millington Wood a few miles away, day out at the North York Moors Railway, a drive to Bridlington, Flamborough Point, and wanted to go to Howard Castle but ran out of time. Graham has a display unit with leaflets of local attractions.

All in all very relaxing and would definitely return. Jim and Barb (and Ben dog).

Dear Graham and Allison

Well, we’re sitting here with glum expressions in our comfortable living room wishing we were still in our caravan on your beautiful site. When you say it’s a little bit of heaven in East Yorkshire you’re not wrong!

We wanted to give you a review on-line but realised that we’re not registered for the UK campsite finder site. Perhaps you could put a page on your own website for testimonials and feedback?

If you do decide to do this please add the following:

“This is one of the most beautiful and peaceful sites we’ve visited. The pitches are nicely spaced and for a bank holiday we felt like we’d truly escaped the hectic day to day life. This site is a haven for anyone who wants peace and tranquillity who enjoys wildlife and perhaps a walk or two in the countryside. Oh, and if you’re an angler then you’re truly in paradise!”

We hope to be back soon, until then keep up the hard work – it’s working!

Best wishes

Isabelle and Andy (and Mo the dog)

We're fairly new to camping & decided to stay somewhere not too far from home. We picked this site because of the good reviews - and this one will be no different. Graham & Allison were lovely; couldn't have been more friendly & welcoming.

This site is situated in a beautiful setting, very peaceful & relaxing, with just the birds for background noise, oh & the occasional 'FOUR!' shouted by the golfers at the nearby Allerthorpe course.

We had a choice of pitches as we were the only ones there (only because our teenagers - had broken up earlier than other schools it seems.)

We pitched in the smaller front part of the site. There is a field at the other side of the lake which I never saw. We made use of the EHU, we were only there for 3 days but chose the £5 elec meter. We didn't use it all, even though we'd run 2 electric coolboxes, lights, kettle & laptop for watching DVDs!

The showers & toilet block were very clean with plenty of hot water for the showers. They are security accessed to stop fishermen using the camping facilities as they have their own separate toilet block.

They were proper showers (no push buttons every 10 seconds here!) with adjustable shower head & temperature control, set in large cubicles. Trifle chilly when coming out of the shower as there's no form of heating in the blocks. Hand soap, towels & plenty of toilet paper were much appreciated.

Thoroughly recommend the site & will be returning later this year all being well.
A note from conifer lake We will be instaling radiators in each shower room very soon Unit: Tent

We visited this site for some much-needed peace and quiet, and were not disappointed.

The owners, Graham and Allison, couldn't have been more friendly and helpful. The site is beautiful and the fishing lakes are wonderful for anglers or just for a very pleasant stroll. When we were there the daffodils were in bloom - thousands of them - which just added to the sense of tranquility and natural beauty of the place. It really is a little oasis.

There is a small field with hardstandings for 5 caravans and a larger area for tents (nice and flat), many pitches have EHU which works on a credit tariff and we couldn't believe how little we used during our stay. Both areas are within a stones throw of the lakes. Graham told us he never accepts too many tents, as he prefers to maintain the sense of space.

The bathrooms (no separate toilet and shower block here, but proper bathrooms with loo, sink and large shower) are kept scrupulously clean and have lovely added touches of hand soap and clean towels provided. There was always lots of hot water during our stay.

There's a covered washing-up area with a good deep sink and oodles of piping hot water. Again, a nice touch was the ever-present washing-up liquid provided.

This is a get-away-from-it-all site in the heart of the countryside but is actually close to all amenities; Pocklington is just a ten minute drive away and has great shops and a Sainsbury supermarket, and York is easily accessible.

There are some really nice country walks directly from the site, and our dog - who also received a great welcome - thoroughly enjoyed herself, too!

This is an adults only site because of the lakes, but children over the age of twelve are welcomed, and our thirteen year old had a great time and really enjoyed the fishing (thanks to tips from Graham!).

All in all, a fabulous site which is clearly a labour of love for the owners. We were very impressed, and will hopefully be going back again very soon.
Unit: Tent

What a gem of a site. We have just arrived back from a weekend here after discovering this fantastic place.

This is a lovely site probably best suited to couples wanting a quiet break away from it all, as no children under 12 are allowed, this is due to the proximity of the fishing lake on site.

The campsite is easy to find, access is good if you follow the instructions from the site information page and don't rely on your sat nav!.

The owners Graham & Allison met us on arrival and showed us to our pitch with EHU, which was plenty big enough for our large tent and gave us some nice shelter and privacy, but without being too closed in. It was nice and flat as all the others pitches look too, surrounded and hidden by trees. Think we were lucky as this was a quiet weekend so there weren't many tents but it was clear the pitches are clearly marked and the site will not be overcrowded even when full.

The owners were very friendly, knowledgeable and helpful with advice of where to visit, how best to get there, opening times etc.

The site is spacious, but not too big and all facilities were clean and well maintained. There are 3 bathrooms male, female & disabled all with shower, sink and toilet combined. The showers are free, nice and hot with good water pressure, toilets immaculately clean. Away from the toilet block is 1 large washing up sink and waste disposal point.

You may need to take a torch as the site is dark on a night with only lighting as you approach the toilet block. This suited us with no light pollution giving us chance to do a bit of star gazing.

We are not fishermen/woman ourselves, but the walks round the lake are great. Think the lake must be well stocked as every time we wandered around we came across someone catching a fish.

Next door is Allerthorpe golf club which looks like it runs around the perimeter of the site, screened by mature trees & hedges.

Just a short walk ( 20 mins) away takes you to the local pub, Plough Inn where we received a warm welcome and great food. Again the facilities were clean and service was good.

Sainsbury's in Pocklinton 5 mins by car provide everything you need, as no shop on site.

All in all, this is a great site and we cannot praise it enough. The owners have obviously carefully thought about what they themselves would want from a site and then gone out of their way to ensure that is what campers can expect when visiting. Graham told us about the future plans they have for the site, which in our opinion will make this even better. We wish them every success. We will definitely visit again.

We arrived at the camp site and the heavens opened, after getting extremely wet, we managed to put our tents, up and the owners came to see if we were ok, they were all very helpful and got to say liked a laugh, as there were 5 in our party and we are all slightly mad the owner fitted in well !

The toilets were very clean, as was the washing up facilities.

The lake is very beautiful, and if you want a relaxing weekend this is the place to visit. The plough in the village is a must, the food was lovely.

We went walking on the saturday to allerthopre woods which we all enjoyed, plus the weather was hot and sunny by then.

We were told that we didn't have to rush off the site on the sunday,we could go when we liked which is good as most sites want you off by 12 noon.

We will be going back again if just to annoy the owners, only joking

Greeted by the owners on arrival, very helpful even though it was throwing it down. They came out to make sure we were ok. The camp site was easy to find and very well laid out. Hot water to do the washing up, even washing up liquid was provided. The toilet and showers were very clean and very well located close to the tented area. Plenty of toilet paper and hand towel and soap provided.

The village was within walking distance although only 1 pub called the Plough Inn that opened not before 12 o'clock but the food and drink was exellent. No shops in the village. Shops in the next village not to far in the car.

The Lake is well stocked with fish and pleasant to walk around, has lots of lilies.

Around the area is lots of very good walks through country lanes and wooded areas well sign posted so you don't get lost. Would definitely go back again.

We were fairly new to camping and picked Conifer Lake because it just sounded nice, Alan likes to fish so it seemed ideal. Being more 'mature' campers, an adult only site is a big bonus.

When I called to book, Graham was so friendly and welcoming, and by then I just knew it was the right place for us.

On arrival we were greeted warmly by Dave (thanks Dave!)and it was such a relief (in more ways than one!)to find a fantastic shower and toilet block which are kept in immaculate condition with even a mop and bucket, so people can be responsible enough to help keep it clean.

The camp site is well spaced out and all the grasses and greenery are kept in perfect condition by Graham and Alison, who are total workaholics but still know how to stop and fish, (well, Alison puts me to shame!) The lake is stunningly beautiful, preserving wildlife and horticulture.

Although there are no shops on site, (and this can sometimes be a good thing), there is a little pub, 5 minutes drive away which do a rare Sunday dinner and not overly expensive, 10 minutes sees you into Pocklington, lovely little small town, where you can find Sainsbury's or the Co-op.

The best review we can give this place and the warm, welcoming generosity of the owners and family is simply to go and see for yourselves.

It is by far the best getaway we had for a long time, and we cannot wait to get back.

The views and the lake look like fairy tale scenery (beautiful). Although we only stayed for 1 night we are planning to return in a few weeks to stay for a week so we can fish in the lake.

Everyone was really friendly and we are keeping in touch with a lovely couple we met there who are also returning to the site.

The owners Graham and Alison make a point of welcoming their visitors and are also very friendly.

The showers, toilets and grounds are spotless.

We are looking forward to staying in the newly built log cabins in the winter too.

Well done to all that made the site such an enjoyable place to stay.

The only downside was we didn't want to come home and are looking forward to returning very soon.

Just back from a weekend stay at Conifer Lake and thought I'd be the first to give a review.

Our first impressions of a friendly, peaceful and relaxing site in a gorgeous location were spot on!

Although only there for one night, we absolutely loved it. Being greeted with a friendly smile by Graham and Allison, we were made to feel right at home!

Firstly, the site itself. There's washing up facilities for doing the dishes with (very) hot water on tap, and a place for bio-degradable waste which we didn't use.

The toilets were spotlessly clean, with integral showers too. Our daughter was the first to pay them a visit, running back to the tent encouraging a family visit to see just how good they were. And they were!

Local area is beautiful, with a lovely looking pub a few mins up the road. We didn't get chance to pay a visit, but certainly will next time we stay. Nearby Pocklington has some great shops for treats as well as the usual provisions.

But, I've saved the best feature until last. The Lake. It looks great, and the walk round it is lovely, and we couldn't resist crossing the bridges to the islands. If you want to fish, apparently it is well stocked and there was a fishing match on while we were there, although you wouldn't have known it - it was silent. Even the pair of green woodpeckers we saw didn't make a noise!

A peaceful, friendly site in a fantastic location and owned by a couple who want to do it right!

Thanks for a wonderful weekend. We'll be back soon!
